Rumours surrounding an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake have been in full force for many years now but a recent Steam update may just prove that it is just around the corner.

However, fans are unhappy and that is for one very good reason.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is widely regarded as one of the best games in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series so it is no wonder that fans have been begging for a remake/remaster, especially as the game was first launched back in 2013.

A remake/remaster has not been officially confirmed by Ubisoft but leaks over the years have shown that one may be in development and a recent Steam amendment supports this.

Spotted by user The Hidden One over on Twitter, the following features that are not found in the original Black Flag game have now been added to the Steam listing: custom volume controls, stereo sound, surround sound, mouse-only option, adjustable difficulty, and ‘save anytime’.

The good news is that this could prove that the announcement of a remake/remaster is just around the corner. However, the bad news is that this could mean the said remake/remaster will replace the original version of Black Flag on the Steam Store.

This is not an uncommon practice as titles such as Dark Souls, BioShock and the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy have also been replaced by their remasters.

As well as replacing the look and feel of a beloved classic, there is no saying if the remaster will be an enjoyable experience and could be littered with bugs and glitches and players will no longer have the option to just play the original.

The possibility of this coming true has left fans feeling upset and they took to social media to share their thoughts.

“This also is quite concerning because if the original Black Flag page is being updated. Are they planning to REPLACE the original Black Flag and delist it? OH GOD,” user The Hidden One shared.

Other users claim it is a “terrible idea” and that they will not purchase the remake if it follows this formula. Others are hopeful that the original will still be listed and that the remaster may just come as an optional upgrade.

Only time will tell but hopefully the announcement for the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remaster is just around the corner.
