Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has officially gone gold one month before launch - a great sign

We've still got Miles to go

Good things come to those who wait, and it looks like the superhero game of our dreams is right around the corner.

With a month to go until launch, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has officially gone gold and the cast are ready to celebrate.

In an announcement made by Insomniac Studios on 20 September, the team revealed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had gone gold. Nadji Jeter, Yuri Lowenthal, Laura Bailey and Tony Todd who play Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson and Venom respectively shared news of the milestone achievement via a Twitter video and it is safe to say they’re excited for fans to get stuck in.

Take a look at our hands-on impressions of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 below!

Going gold simply means that the highly anticipated sequel has completed the final stage of development and is ready for launch. However with a month to go until release day on October 20, the Insomniac team will still have time to tackle any bugs and issues to assure a smooth experience.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has officially GONE GOLD!” Insomniac announces at the end of the video. “We’re thrilled to share this milestone achievement with our studio and collaborators at PlayStation and Marvel Games, and with our incredible community around the world. We can’t wait for you to experience what ‘ever been cooking up on October 20th!”

This news came in the same week fans were treated to their first look at the expanded New York featured in the game. In a video featured during Sony’s State of Play event which aired on September 14, Insomniac showed the full map which is confirmed to be double the size of the map in Marvel’s Spider-Man. With a lot of ground (or sky) to cover, it could take a while to get from A to B. Luckily, slingshots and wingsuits have been provided to the web-slinging duo so they can cover ground even quicker.

With officially a month to go until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches, fans are excited to continue Peter and Miles’ bigger and better story. Here’s hoping we can drag ourselves off the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man app long enough to experience it.

In related news, Insomniac Games have finally begun development on Marvel’s Wolverine which was first announced back in September 2021.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on 20 October 2023.
