Marvel's Spider-Man 2 just revealed its full map, and it's huge

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 promises to be bigger and better than the 2018 game!

The release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is nearly upon us and fans of the friendly neighbourhood hero cannot wait to web-sling through Manhattan once more.

Well, in fact, we’ll be web-slinging through Manhattan with more than just one friendly neighbourhood hero, because we’ll be playing as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

Check out the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 latest trailer below to see the map!

As we learned during this week’s State of Play digital event, we’ll be able to seamlessly transition from Peter Parker and Miles Morales on the fly, perhaps not too dissimilar to how players can switch between Micheal, Franklin, and Trevor in GTA V.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 promises to be bigger and better than its predecessor, literally. Not only will we have more freedom when web-slinging or choosing which Spidey we can play as on missions, but the map in the sequel is nearly twice as big as it was in the original game. In the sequel, players will be able to freely explore Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, East River and more.

As we already know, to explore the larger map so swiftly, players will be able to use the ‘Web Wings’ ability in addition to web-swinging and it looks to be so much fun. You can of course fast-travel in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which will be super quick due to the PS5’s SSD, but would you want to do that in a game like this?

Another new feature that we learned about during the State of Play is that Peter Parker now has access to the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man app that Miles Morales used in his standalone game. Now you’ll be able to save the day more than ever, and it might even include another epic cat rescue.

The first Marvel’s Spider-Man had a lot of suits to unlock, some that were already in the base game and others were added at a later date by Insomniac Games. However, in the sequel, the amount of suits that you’ll have access to is taken to the next level.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature a whopping 65 suits at launch. Some of those suits will be inspired by Spidey movies, comics and TV series, while others will be new original designs. You can even add colour shaders to your favourite suits which offer over 200 variations. Of course, many suits will also come with various skills and abilities.

In related news, Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine has finally begun its development. Happy days!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on 20 October 2023.
