The Marvel world is gearing up for a huge new chapter this year, finally picking up the pieces after the Multiverse was set in order.
In the cinematic universe, 'Phase Six' of Marvel's film franchise saw The Fantastic Four return, with Spider-Man set to carry the torch forward towards the next Avengers films with Doomsday and Secret Wars.
But since the gang last got back together in Endgame, the video game tangent has done a lot of the heavy lifting for Marvel.
However, one highly anticipated title has fallen through the cracks after being announced in 2021, and the developers have now revealed that it's 'playable' but won't be coming any time soon.
Bringing together a pre-time capsule Steve Rogers as Captain America and T’Chanda (grandfather of T’Challa) as Black Panther, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra looked to be a hot commodity when it was first revealed.

Promising a thrilling story-led action-adventure in a World War II setting that really taps into Cap's origin arc, the game was once at the top of most Marvel-lovers' wishlists.
Until it vanished.
A string of production issues has pushed Marvel 1943 back, and despite a delayed 2026 release window being the new target, it now seems Rise of Hydra won't be coming before Doomsday.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, Paramount Games Studio’s exec Shawn Kittelsen revealed that the game is still happening, and it will be great, but it won't be under your Christmas tree in 2026.
"It’s a game. It’s happening. It’s playable […] I can go through and play the build," said Kittelsen.
"We’re continuing development on it, but Amy and the team have big ambitions for the level of quality that they want to hit.”
As to its release, he added, "I don’t think it’ll be 2026.”

The Studio exec claimed that the Paramount team working on Marvel 1943 is relatively small for a title with such high ambitions, and the original timeline was overly ambitious.
Instead, they are focusing more on quality than quantity, knowing that its entry into the Marvel universe isn't time sensitive, akin to the films.
Marvel fans won't be too disheartened, though, as there is plenty of superhero action on the way.
Namely, Insomniac Games took to the stage at State of Play to show off its Marvel's Spider-Man successor, revealing the gruesome gameplay for Marvel's Wolverine.
The claw-clapping daredevil will be the next character to be slashing his way through our hearts, with pre-orders now available for the game's release on September 15.
There's no shortage of Marvel content coming, but it's a shame that Rise of Hydra won't be ready to capitalise on the pre-Doomsday hype.
