5 gameplay features we noticed as Marvel's Iron Man leaks confirmed to be real

Marvel is back in the big 2026, bringing the gang together and writing new stories for our beloved superheroes.

Hot off the back of Spider-Man: Brand New Day smashing box office records, the MCU is gearing up for a massive reunion with Avengers: Doomsday.

In the gaming medium, it's Wolverine's time to shine as the X-Men begin a new chapter in Marvel's plans. The hairy, iron-clawed slash artist is planning to rip through October with gory, cheeky, and rage-inducing gameplay.

Yet while the future of Marvel's games is in disarray following Wolverine - with Blade and 1943: Rise of Hydra both facing extensive delays or cancellations - it looks like one long-lost game is back on the cards.

As two minutes of gameplay leaked overnight, Marvel's Iron Man has been confirmed to be in development, and our first impressions are that it looks to be everything that you'd want to see from a Tony Stark-inspired game.

Marvel's Iron Man confirmed by Motive Studio

Unfortunately, Marvel games have amassed a reputation for leaking online, with the famous Insomniac leaks of 2023 revealing Wolverine and Venom titles.

Now, in what appears to be leaked footage of a gameplay test on August 28, Marvel's Iron Man footage has emerged online.

Straight after the footage emerged, Motive Studio - a studio under the EA banner famed for Star Wars: Battlefront II, Dead Space, and Battlefield 6 - confirmed that the leaks were real.

"Well, that didn't go as planned," the studio said on X, sharing a first image of the game art.

The official Motive website now also sports an Iron Man banner, although details on when we can expect to see a full reveal are nothing more than the 'when we're ready' message in their X post.

5 Features spotted in Marvel's Iron Man leaks

Flying mechanics

Most of the screen time in the leaks was taken up by flying mechanics, which, at first glance, look incredible.

Of course, it is just a movement system like Spider-Man's web-slinging, but the Iron Man suit blasting between city skyscrapers and soaring into the sky did look incredible.

However, some critics have quickly drawn comparisons to EA's cancelled title Anthem.

Jarvis

In one instance, before flying into combat, Tony Stark interacts with Jarvis, which suggests that the AI sidekick will assist players through the game, just as it does in the films.

The extent of the help looks minimal, but it's an area of exploration that Marvel could expand on, allowing players to call for reinforcements in Stark's ever-expanding gadget arsenal.

Customisable suits and weapons

Possibly the biggest leak was the adaptability of the Iron Man suit. Typical of how Stark is never satisfied with his metal outfit, the billionaire inventor can be seen tinkering with his suit's appearance on multiple occasions.

But it's not all just for aesthetics, as small snippets suggest that players will be able to choose their weaponry and upgrade it along the way.

Popular villains

Much akin to how Marvel's Wolverine will feature more foes than simply Jean Grey, Iron Man appears to have at least six iconic villains to fight.

In the gameplay trailer alone, Madam Masque, Crymson Dynamo, Whiplash, Iron Monger, Justin Hammer, and Blizzard can all be spotted.

Other fans have theorised that Mandarin could also be featured, with one sequence taking place in an area inspired by Southeast Asia.

Marvel's Avengers (2020) Combat

Finally, when it comes to combat, there seem to be quite a lot of different techniques and combinations that are similar to Marvel's Avengers.

While the game flopped with a subpar plot, the combat for Iron Man specifically was quite strong.

With typical punching mechanics effective on weaker enemies, there also appear to be more famous Iron Man moves, such as the Unibeam blast from his Arc Reactor and a spinning laser move to defeat encircling foes.
