Of all the Marvel superheroes out there, Iron Man perhaps the one best suited to having his own video game. Honestly, it’s pretty shocking that we’ve gone this long without having a proper new-gen one, but at least that’s set to be amended very soon.

Last September, it was confirmed that all the rumours were true - EA is working on an Iron Man game as we speak. It’ll be a third-person single-player action-adventure game, and will “feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man”. Basically, it sounds a whole lot like it’s going to be Marvel’s Spider-Man but with Tony Stark at the helm, and if that’s the case, I’m sure no one will be complaining.

Also in the works right now is an untitled Captain America and Black Panther game - take a look at the teaser below.

Now, as The Loadout reports, a new job listing has seemingly confirmed that the Iron Man game will boast an open world. Narrative director at EA Motive, Stephen Rhodes, recently took to Twitter to share a senior writer job role, and wrote: “Come work with me and help create the next great Iron Man story, here at EA Motive!”

If you take a look at the listing, it specifies that applicants must have “experience in open world and non-linear dialogue for games”. It’d be a bit strange to have this as a requirement if the Iron Man game itself isn’t open world, so we can probably allow ourselves to get cautiously hyped here, even if it’s not direct confirmation.

As of September 2022, the game was still in pre-production, so it’s probably going to be quite some time before it releases. Let’s hope it’ll be worth the wait.
