Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 launch window might be much further away than we thought.
Developed by Insomniac Games, when Marvel’s Spider-Man was first released in 2018 on PlayStation 4, it instantly became one of the best exclusives on Sony’s console.
Web-slinging through Manhattan, Times Square and Queens feels incredibly free-flowing, it has fantastic combat on par with the likes of the Batman: Arkham series, it looks gorgeous, and its story kept me hooked from start to finish.
Then in 2022, the game was made to look and perform even better with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PlayStation 5, which was later released on PC. Granted, the new Peter Parker character model caused quite a stir at the time, but I have to say, I preferred the new look.
Marvel’s Wolverine Is On The Way!

Before the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, its sequel was announced in September 2021, alongside a brand-new game from Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Wolverine.
We had to be patient for the arrival of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, with it launching a couple of years later on PlayStation 5 in October 2023, but I feel it was well worth the wait. As for Marvel’s Wolverine, well, we’ve had to be extra patient to sink our Adamantium claws into the foes of Logan.
After years of waiting to see some gameplay, all was revealed in September 2025, when we saw Insomniac Games’ version of Wolverine in action, and it was as brutal and high-octane as we could have hoped. While Marvel’s Wolverine doesn't have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, it is currently expected to arrive towards the end of this year (2026), or early 2027 when it’s released on PlayStation 5.
So, all in all, assuming it doesn't get delayed, we would have waited five years for Marvel’s Wolverine, or to make it sound a little more dramatic…..HALF A DECADE!
When Might Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Be Released?
But where does that leave Marvel’s Spider-Man 3?

For starters, Insomniac Games hasn't officially announced the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3. Yet, considering the cliffhanger that the second game left us on, it’s pretty much a guarantee.
Other than Marvel’s Wolverine, there are rumours that Venom will be getting his own standalone game. Again, it’s not been officially confirmed by Insomniac Games, but considering the success of the movies, it would make sense.
It’s unlikely that the rumoured Venom game will be released before Marvel’s Wolverine. So, if we were to assume this order of release: Marvel’s Wolverine and then Marvel’s Venom, Insomniac Games might not be in a major hurry to release Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
By that logic, it might be safe to assume that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will not only be a PlayStation 6 game, but it could easily be a few more years down the road - 2028 or 2029. I don't want to speak it into existence, but that would put it in likely PS6 exclusive territory. If we get Marvel’s Wolverine in 2026 and the rumoured Marvel’s Venom in 2027, waiting until 2028 or 2029 might not be quite as agonising. Maybe.

Of course, games take time to make, so I can be patient... For now.
