Witcher fans are being blessed with more than just The Witcher IV, as a multiplayer project in the works with CD Projekt Red is on the way, too.
In all honesty, it’s a bit of a weird move. The Witcher has always been a single-player gaming franchise but then again, so have Horizon and The Last of Us, yet they’ve dipped their toes into multiplayer as well.
It’s just the nature of the game nowadays, so it’s no surprise to see The Witcher following in others’ footsteps.
Little has been officially said about CD Projekt Red’s Project Sirius, but a new development implies it’ll be some sort of co-op adventure telling a separate story to that of Geralt and Ciri.
As spotted by Eurogamer, Kwan Perng has officially joined the team and shared the update in a post on LinkedIn.

To provide a bit of context, Perng was a writer for Guild Wars 2 and Destiny 2: The Final Shape, one of the beloved and climactic expansions for Bungie’s multiplayer game. With a track record like that, Perng’s experience will serve them well on this new Witcher game.
Their LinkedIn post read: “I've joined CD PROJEKT RED as the Lead Writer on Project Sirius. It will be some time before I can talk about the project, but in the meantime, I've been immersing myself in the dark and eclectic universe of The Witcher. It's humbling to get the opportunity to tell stories in this world and in the company of such talented developers.”
From the sound of things, Project Sirius is nowhere near finished, which isn’t much of a surprise considering the bulk of CD Projekt Red’s development team will be working on The Witcher IV.

Given the need for a lead writer though, it sounds like this mysterious title will see players join an entire team of witchers, who must join forces to topple another supernatural threat. Maybe Geralt will show up for an assist.
It sounds like a solid concept and we’re hoping we’ll be able to create our own custom witcher. Choosing the house our character is from in addition to their playstyle, would be fantastic as long as it doesn’t break the established canon.
Don’t expect an update on project Sirius for quite some time but do know that it’s coming, and it’s shaping up to be another banger from CD Projekt Red.
The Witcher IV is also shaping up to be a fine follow-up to The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. We’re finally going to play as Ciri for an entire game, and with it being developed for new-gen consoles, the scope and scale are set to defy all expectations.
Now all we need is a release date…
