CD Projekt RED has just released a development update that is sure to be pleasing news to those excited for The Witcher 4 (and Cyberpunk 2).
Things over at CD Projekt RED are going well, it would seem.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty sold like hotcakes, the developer is being widely praised for their incredible Nintendo Switch 2 port of Cyberpunk 2077, and pretty much everything we've seen from The Witcher 4 looks incredible.
Well the good news just keeps on coming, because a recent post from the official CD Projekt Twitter account sounds very promising for both The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2.

As spotted by GameRant’s Kyle Knight, CD Projekt RED just revealed that the number of developers they have working on their upcoming titles has increased– with over 100 new members of staff being attached to projects since February.
As the post explains, 799 developers are now working on upcoming titles (as of July 31 this year). 444 of those team members are working on The Witcher 4, and 116 of them are working on Cyberpunk 2.
That's a pretty impressive jump from the numbers for February 28. Back then, a total of 707 developers were working on CD Projekt Red games, with 411 working on The Witcher 4 and 84 working on Cyberpunk 2.
Obviously the focus for the team is on The Witcher 4 at the moment, but the fact that the developer numbers for Cyberpunk 2 have jumped by roughly 30% since February implies that the game may be ramping up for an earlier release that we assumed.

CD Projekt RED has officially stated that we won’t be getting The Witcher 4 until 2027 at the earliest however, so don’t assume that we’ll be getting Cyberpunk 2 any time before 2028 either.
That being said, I weirdly appreciate their transparency here. A lot of times stuff like this seems like an oddly guarded secret, and we have to rely on stuff like investors calls meetings and job hiring posts to understand exactly what’s going on.
Best of luck to the team. Here’s hoping that the investors have learned their lesson from Cyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launch, and that the dev team is given ample time to produce a game that’s in a great state on release.
