CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it intends to show off The Witcher 4 later this year.

The Witcher 4 was announced a few years ago, but it still hasn’t had a full reveal yet aside from the trailer we saw at The Game Awards in 2024.

Well, we did get that tech demo from last year’s State of Unreal as well, which wasn’t necessarily a proper reveal, but rather a tease at the technology that The Witcher 4 will be using.

On episode 26 of the AnsweRED Podcast, CD Projekt Red confirmed that The Witcher 4 will be shown off at Unreal Engine Fest in June later this year (thanks, DSO Gaming).

At around 18 minutes into the podcast, animation director Maciej Pietras says that Unreal Engine Fest allowed CD Projekt Red to demonstrate “so many technologies that we did”, and also mentions that the company will be doing the same this year as it did last year.

There hasn’t been any confirmation yet as to whether this footage will be the same tech demo we saw last year, or a brand new one.

It’s also unclear whether it’ll be in-engine cutscenes, or actual gameplay.

The podcast episode also drops a few hints at other features which may make their way into The Witcher 4, including a dedicated jump button, underwater swimming, and huge NPC variety.

Unless CD Projekt Red plans on releasing another trailer before June, it’s likely that Unreal Engine Fest will be the next time we get to see some in-engine footage of The Witcher 4.

The Witcher 4 is the next mainline game in the series following 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The game swaps out Geralt as the main playable character for Ciri, his adopted daughter. However, it’s also assumed that Geralt will play a large role in the plot, even if relegated to a role similar to Vesemir’s in the original trilogy.

There’s no official word on when The Witcher 4 will come out. It’s supposedly targeting current-gen systems, and will presumably land before the PS6 comes out.

Some rumours suggest the end of 2027, which seems about right considering the game has been in development since 2022.
