The Witcher IV has received its first taste of gameplay courtesy of a tech demo from CD Projekt RED, showing off a gorgeous open-world we can’t wait to explore.
CD Projekt RED is currently participating in a special State Of Unreal showcase for the next Witcher game, specifically on how it’s using Unreal Engine 5 to bring us a whole new kind of Witcher world.
The gameplay shown off has looked ace so far, with some gorgeous scenery as well as a closer look at what our beloved Ciri has been up to on her Witcher journey.

It’s not an understatement to say the world so far looks genuinely life-like; out of the corner of your eye you could easily mistake it as a real-world image.
Horse riding in particular looks fantastic, as there were sweeping shots of the mountains and forest we’ll be traipsing through during our time with the game.
You can view the full demo below.
There was even a segment where Ciri enters a camp/town/settlement (whatever) and interacts with some of the locals. It's seemingly on the smaller side yet feels so lived in, with crowds of people going about their daily lives.

If that's an example of one of the smaller areas of the game, God knows how impressive some of the larger cities will be.
I should stress, as a tech demo, this exact content won't be featured in the final release. It's simply an example of the quality that could appear.
Unfortunately, one thing that hasn't changed is the release date, as CD Projekt RED is giving nothing away on when the game is supposed to release, which sucks but better a good game than a rushed game...
To say the game looks like this years before its supposed launch though is impressive, so it's definitely going to be worth the wait.

I'm sure CD Projekt RED has the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 engraved into its mind as well, so it'll definitely be taking its time with the next chapter in the Witcher series.
