Hogwarts Legacy 2 set to borrow Red Dead Redemption 2's best feature

Given the colossal success of Hogwarts Legacy, chances are we’ll see a sequel at some point. It’s yet to be announced - and even when it is announced, we likely won’t see any footage for a good few years - yet we already have some idea of what it may look like thanks to the vast amount of cut content in the first game.

In recent days, it was revealed that Hogwarts Legacy has already made over $1 billion. With extra PS4 and Xbox One sales to add on top of that, plus the Nintendo Switch launch which is still to come on 25 July, I’d imagine that we’ll soon get a new sales peak. As popular as Hogwarts Legacy is though, it’s not without its faults. The open-world may appear vast, but the game is a little too obsessed with caves and ruins, plus there’s no playable version of Quidditch nor a working companion system. Thanks to dataminers though, we know that some of these features did originally exist in the game prior to release - and one deleted feature, which could be included in a sequel, very much reminds us of Red Dead Redemption.

The other day, YouTuber GrandTheftDiamonds shared a vast number of files they’d datamined from Hogwarts Legacy, revealing planned content that didn’t make it as far as the final release build. One of the files found referenced a reputation and morality system, which sounds an awful lot like Red Dead Redemption’s Karma system. The findings were shared to Reddit by IamWatchingAoT who wrote, “The cut content found in this video [...] includes things like a reputation and morality system similar to Red Dead Redemption’s Karma system. Instead of Karma, you would lose House Points.”

They continued, “In the video, you can see you lose 100 points for casting Avada Kedavra, 50 points for Imperio, 25 for Confringo.” As much as players have enjoyed using the game’s Unforgivable Curses and other evil spells, many have pointed out that it’s weird that our main character is allowed to be such a tyrant.

In fact, the main character has a higher kill count than Voldemort himself, so introducing a morality system would add some much needed significance to those actions. The good news is Hogwarts Legacy’s devs are already working on their next game.
