Heads up - games developer Avalanche Software, which most recently brought Hogwarts Legacy to life, is already working on its next game.

It’s basically only a matter of time before Hogwarts Legacy gets a sequel. The Wizarding World RPG sold incredibly well right out of the gate - it was just a matter of days before it became the most successful Harry Potter game of all time, and it’s shifted millions of copies. Warner Bros. Games is clearly pleased by this, too. It was previously revealed that the company sees Hogwarts Legacy as a long-term franchise, which seems to confirm that the game won’t be a one-off release. In fact, it sounds like there could be multiple sequels based on that phrasing, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Take a look at Hogwarts Legacy’s funniest mod starring PS1 Hagrid below.

So, the big question is, is a Hogwarts Legacy sequel what Avalanche Software is working on right now? Well, maybe. As Game Rant reports, the first reference to the developer’s next game has been found in a job listing on Warner Bros. Discovery’s site, which was looking for a new software engineer to join the team. Specifically, the listing stated that the prospective employee would be “working on an unannounced AAA console title”.

It’s worth noting that if you go onto the website now, although there’s still a listing for a software engineer there, the line about the unannounced game is no longer on the page. This could be for a few reasons - the previous position might have already been filled, it could have been an error, or perhaps the company is just sick of people speculating what it is that the team are working on. Oops.

Regardless, that’s all we know right now, but do keep in mind that the team could be developing something totally unrelated to Harry Potter. We’ll just have to wait and see.
