God Of War fans are finally getting their old Kratos back, as in the Kratos that slaughtered the entire Greek pantheon in the original trilogy.
It was quite the change of pace to go from a blood-lusted God Of War from God Of War 3, to the more reserved, tactical Kratos of God Of War (2018).
I’m surprised the “reboot” was so easily accepted, but it did tease that the old Kratos is still in there, waiting to break free. If you’ve played both that game, its sequel God Of War: Ragnarok and its DLC God Of War: Valhalla you’ll know Kratos has finally come to terms with his past, and is embracing a new role of hope rather than war.
So you’d think old Kratos is very much dead and buried, but that’s not the case as he’s actually coming back next month, just not in the way we expected.

PlayStation fans will have seen recently that a new collaboration is coming with Magic: The Gathering.
New cards are being issued based on some of PlayStation’s most iconic modern-day IPs. These range from God Of War, obviously, The Last Of Us, Uncharted, and the Horizon series.
For the God Of War cards Kratos from the Greek trilogy is making a return, but the Norse games are also being represented through a modern Kratos card as well as one for Atreus.
It’s not exactly what God Of War fans were hoping for when it came to a Greek Kratos resurgence.

Many tuned into the last State Of Play expecting some good news for the series, whether it be a tease for the next mainline game or a remaster/remake of one of the old games. Instead we got a new controller.
A revisit to the OG trilogy has been on the cards for a while now, as while God Of War 3 Remastered can be played on PlayStation 5 the only way to play the first two games is through streaming them via PlayStation Plus Premium.
It’s not the ideal way to play them, so a re-release of some kind is desperately needed, but at the time of writing still out of reach.
For now we’ll just have to make do with this card collaboration. The Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair x PlayStation Superdrop will launch next month on October 27.
