God of War’s Christopher Judge has let slip on some details regarding the announced Greek Saga remakes.
In case you missed it, last week saw Sony announce a remake of the original God of War trilogy, the three games that comprise the “Greek Saga” of the franchise.
TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, will be returning to the role, and the game is expected to utilise the combo-based hack and slash elements from the original.
With these games being remade though, there’s also the expectation that things could change to fit the modern vision of the series, such as changing the gameplay to be third-person over the shoulder like the Norse Saga games.
God Of War's Christopher Judge May Have Just Done An Oopsie
It seems that Christopher Judge, the voice actor for Kratos in the Norse Saga games, may have just slipped a detail that implies the remake’s combat will be changed.

Talking to a fan at a convention, Judge explains that he isn’t involved with the remake as TC Carson will be reprising the role of Kratos, and he also teased a few massive changes that the collection will be making.
According to Judge, the new God of War Trilogy Remake will feature some changes to the technology and content, but he also teases a “new fighting system”.
It’s possible that this could mean the remakes will feature combat similar to the reboot duology, with third-person movement and a bigger emphasis on dodging and parrying.
However, something tells me that purists of the series won’t enjoy it if the hack-and-slash gameplay of the original was taken out. Ultimately, the original God of War games are a different breed compared to the newer ones, and it’d be a shame to lose what makes them unique.

Meanwhile, Judge also mentioned that Santa Monica Studio’s next project is being revealed in the summer, leading many to believe the studio could be about to unveil the next mainline God of War game.
It’s rumoured that the next God of War game would feature Kratos in a new world inspired by a different mythology, with Cory Barlog saying at one point that the series could tackle Egyptian or Maya mythology.
It’s also possible we might get a game focusing on Atreus, who parts ways with Kratos at the end of God of War Ragnarok to find surviving members of his race.
