God of War Players Spot Plot Hole, Kratos' Genius Called Out

It does seem a tad improbable that Kratos never noticed this...

God of War fans think they’ve spotted a tiny little plothole in God of War Ragnarök that proves something we knew since the release of the original God of War in 2002: Kratos might not be the sharpest tool in the shed.

Fair warning before we get into this one: to explain why this might be a plothole, I’m going to have to spoil what is probably the biggest reveal in the last two God of War games, so don’t proceed further if you haven’t gotten around to finishing God of War Ragnarök yet.

If there’s one thing we know about Kratos, it’s that the dude absolutely loves murdering gods. He’s pretty much been doing nothing but that since the first game on the PlayStation 2.

Honestly at this point, I have to wonder what Santa Monica’s plans are for the series moving forward, because Kratos is slowly running out of deities to murder.

That’s why it was a relatively huge deal when we found out that Kratos’ deceased wife, Laufey, is actually a Jötunn, because it’s clear that he wasn’t aware of this fact before they married.

Except, well… one fan over the r/GodofWar subreddit doesn’t quite buy this story, because how exactly would Kratos not have realised his wife is deity-adjacent when she can lift an entire tree with one hand?

Seems it’s not as far-fetched as it might initially seem however, according to some folks in the comments.

“They fought when they first met, so Kratos was no stranger to her strength. He's in unknown lands and has known other powerful mortals, so I figure as soon as he was sure she wasn't a god it didn't matter to him”, commented user 1271500.

“He comes from Greek mythology, there so many half-gods running around there thanks to Zeus' f**king anybody other than Hera that he probably just assumed she had some divine blood in her. Or he just thought people in the North are stronger. I don't think he meets many other humans in his time there”, replied user Citizen_Kong.

Alright, well, fair enough– that does actually make some kind of sense.

Still think it’s weird that Kratos never thought to, I dunno… ask his wife how she became so strong?

Hm, then again, I get the feeling that Kratos isn’t a big talker. Bro should probably speak to a therapist before anyone else first anyway.
