Ghost In The Shell RPG in development

Ghost In The Shell RPG in development

River Horse Games has teased that a new Ghost In The Shell tabletop game is in the works.

It’s been announced that a Ghost In The Shell tabletop game is in development.

Well, this is welcomed news on a Monday morning. While I’m a sucker for a lengthy video game RPG, I also enjoy diving into an RPG of the tabletop variety with friends every now and then. Just the other day, we discovered that Steamforged Games are working on a new Horizon board game, titled Horizon Forbidden West: Seeds of Rebellion. The game is set before Aloy’s arrival in the titular Forbidden West, when there is great unrest between the clans. The Kickstarter launches on 21 November and we can’t wait to find out more. Today though, we turn our attention to a brand new Ghost In The Shell tabletop game.

Take a look at GAMINGbible’s preview of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.

The project is in the works at River Horse Games. As reported by Dicebreaker, River Horse Games is known for producing a number of board game adaptations, with examples including My Little Pony Tails of Equestria, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, Jim Henson’s Dark Crystal, Terminator Genisys: Miniatures Game, Pacific Rim Extinction, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay The Board Game.

Little has been given away about the new Ghost In The Shell project. The teaser image simply shows the silhouette of a mysterious being holding a gun. Next to the figure, 2024 is listed which is presumably when the game will launch. River Horse Games wrote on Twitter, “Coming soon - subscribe for more information,” suggesting we could receive a full reveal this year ahead of next year’s release.

Dicebreaker adds that it looks as if the figure could indeed be Major Motoko Kusanagi. While it’s not confirmed that Ghost In The Shell will be an RPG, it’s very likely to be based on River Horse Games’ past releases, although they have been known to create card and miniature figure based games too. We’ll certainly keep an eye on this project.
