A new free RPG that’s just hit Steam already has players hooked, and it sounds like it could be your next fave.
Last week, indie game developer Vision Interactive released Nakuma on Steam. It’s a free RPG with a focus on grinding for gear and experience points, with spells, upgrades, and stat points.
Think of it as like an old-school MMO game, where the fun is focused more on the grind rather than doing quests. There are mobs to kill and levels to earn. Pretty straightforward stuff really.
Although it sounds rather basic on paper, the Steam user reviews for it so far have been positive.

In fact, it currently has a 100% average review score at the moment, indicating that every single player who left a review has given it a positive rating.
“Nakuma really caught me off guard in the best way,” reads one review on Steam.

“It’s fast, fun, and has that “one more run” feeling that gets you hooked fast, exactly what you want in a game like this.”
“I like the old school retro style of the game, you can upgrade your items & skills, beat many mobs to take loot & complete achievements,” another review reads. “The game is totally free and can run on every PC, so you have no reason not to install the game today and try it out.”
“Nakuma really nails the grindy loop,” a third review reads. “Slash monsters, grab loot, pump stats, repeat. Combat is fast and fun, spells add variety, and the gear/enhancement system kept me hooked. Every stage offered fresh monsters and equipment, and the nostalgic BGM gave it that old-school RPG vibe.”
Nakuma is available to play for free now on Steam. It’ll run on basically any machine, and seems to be perfect for Steam Deck too, so it’s worth checking out if you get time.
