FromSoftware fans everywhere are chomping at the bit for more details on Elden Ring, the mysterious new title from Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
Unfortunately, aside from the briefest of teases during E3 2019, we really have no idea what to expect from the upcoming title. We've heard that it's an open-world adventure, and a real departure from the likes of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but we want - or rather need - something more substantial to sink our teeth into.
Mercifully the fates have now thrown us one tiny morsel of Elden Ring info, and it comes courtesy of Xbox boss Phil Spencer. In a recent interview with GameSpot, Spencer revealed that he's actually seen and played "quite a bit" of the upcoming RPG. The lucky swine. While Spencer obviously couldn't say much more than that, he left us with a few choice words of hype.
"As somebody who's played all of Miyazaki's games over at least the last decade, this is clearly the most ambitious game that he's done," he teased. "I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he's tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it."

Spencer also said that working with George R.R, Martin has clearly expanded Miyazaki's horizons, and that the developer will often leave the room when Spencer is playing.
"I think that's because I'm a bad player, and then when he comes back we'll have a conversation about things that I think," Spencer said. "He's so passionate about what he does. It's one of the things I just love about getting to work with him on some of these games and seeing them come to our platform."
A release date hasn't been set for Elden Ring, but we're expecting it to release on next-gen consoles at some point in the next few years. Yep, that's super vague, but it's as much help as I can be right now. We've had our scraps of Elden Ring news, time to go back to staring at the ceiling while we wait for the next trailer.
