Fallout 4 Players Are Only Just Realising the Main Menu Is an Actual In-Game Location

You've seen it a million times

So much of what makes the Fallout games special is the world building done by Bethesda, Obsidian and most crucially Interplay, back in the day.

From the vaults to the ruined towns found dotted across the wastes, there is so much to explore and uncover regardless of which game you prefer to play.

In terms of personal preference, no game has done it better than Fallout 3 with the Capital Wasteland distilling everything that's miserable and bleak about the post-apocalypse in the United States into a tight runtime.

That said, every release has its own merits, and Fallout 4 does a great job of bringing the Commonwealth to life, even if the brighter aesthetic didn't end up suiting everybody.

One of the locations in the Commonwealth you might not have thought about actually appears before you even launch into the game, and fans have been speculating about where exactly it can be found once you do.

Over on Reddit, one player shared a screenshot of Fallout 4's main menu, featuring the Red Rocket that will now be intimately familiar to many of you that have played before, asking where it could be found in game.

After all, it's quite different from the first one we come across where we meet lifelong companion Dogmeat. No, as the top comment points out, it actually appears elsewhere in one of the game's DLCs, or at least a much closer rendition of.

Specifically, the one outside of Nuka-World saw its design inspired by the main menu of the base game, so it's no coincidence that they look so similar. That said, there are a few differences that players miss, like the sliding garage doors that you can't find anywhere in the game.

Why exactly that exact version of the Red Rocket and attached garage didn't make it into the final game remains unclear, though many speculate it was an earlier design for the one we do get to settle outside Sanctuary Hills.

As one comment noted, it does still exist in the game files, saying, "The actual Red Rocket shell exists in the game files. Ethreon released a mod called Red Rocket Reborn which gives you all the loading screen Red Rocket's assets."

That mod is still available to download, along with several alternatives that all do things slightly differently, so if you're playing on PC, you can have an explore.
