Fallout 4 has been out for ten years now and players have been modding the game for almost as long as that, transforming the experience of the base game beyond all recognition in the pursuit of keeping the gameplay fresh and interesting.
You can take this pursuit as far as you wish, and modding isn't always simply a case of replacing the dragons in Skyrim with giant, terrifying versions of Thomas the Tank Engine.
Instead, a lot of people use them to add extra realism to their game, with immersion features that cover everything from adding new survival mechanics to making it considerably more difficult to scavenge everything you need from the Commonwealth.
Thankfully, someone has taken the time to put together a modlist that should really dial up the immersion in your next game and it all comes in one convenient, easily downloadable package.

LoreOut: The Modern Roleplaying Modlist is a Must Have For Any Serious Fallout 4 Role-Player
Over on Nexus Mods, players can download the LoreOut modlist, a modern roleplaying setup that transforms the game you download it for from top to bottom.
Coming from the same creator as the already very notable Wasteland Reborn, LoreOut is described by the author as a "lore-focused reimagining" of Fallout 4.
It essentially serves as a compilation of some of the best mods the community has to offer, all of which are focused on dialling up the realism and making your next run through the Commonwealth a lot less forgiving.
The modlist is supported by two main mods, in Lunar Fallout Overhaul Deluxe and You Are Exceptional. The former overhauls almost every system in the game to create an experience that makes it feel like you're growing power, whilst at the same time keeping the challenge of the denizens of the wastes.
You Are Exceptional does a similar thing with the game's perks and skills, expanding upon them significantly to allow you to lean into specific role-playing pursuits more easily.
The game world, the weather, water, foliage and the overall landscape have all been changed significantly as well, to create a significantly more foreboding overall map. It's also a lot more dynamic in that sense, so you'll have to react quickly if you want to stay alive.
There's far more than that to this modlist, but we'd be here all day if we tried to explain all of it. If you want to give it a go, just head over to Nexus Mods, download it and start a new game file.
