If you aren't playing Fallout 4 with mods in 2015, then are you really playing Fallout 4 at all? While we're not here to dump on Fallout 4's vanilla experience, fans have been working tirelessly for the past 11 years to deliver a very different kind of game.
Even though we know Bethesda is working on Fallout 5, the fact that we've been repeatedly warned it's likely an age away means it's good news that players are continuously working on improving things out there in the wasteland.
Whether newbie vaulties or hardened veterans, we're sure you'll have heard of the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (UFO4P), and while that's a must-have download for your Fallout mod list in 2026, there are plenty of others you need to be installing.
More than just fiddling with your settings to get the feel of a whole new game, modders have given a taste of the Old West, as a bit of Red Dead Redemption 2 comes to Fallout 4. Well, at least it gives us something to do until we get to try out those Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters.
Over on Nexus Mods, the Commonwealth Intimidation mod is causing a stir. Although Intimidation is an unlockable Charisma perk in Fallout 4, it leaves a little to be desired.

Aiming your weapon at a human opponent at or below your level, there's a chance to pacify them. At higher ranks, you can force them to surrender, turn on their own team, or even force them to do your bidding like you would a companion.
That all gets an overhaul thanks to Zzyxzz's Commonwealth Intimidation mod. This mod takes a leaf out of Red Dead Redemption 2’s book with a similar style of holding up opponents at gunpoint.
When Zzyxzz shared a teaser showing off the mod in action, it seemed many were confused about how this was different from the intimidation perk in the base game.
Instead of luck-based and level-restricted mechanics, you can go full Arthur Morgan as you sneak up behind enemies and hold 'em up without the need for menus or certain levels. While this adds higher stakes and more danger, you can bask in the real-life consequences of never quite knowing how things are going to go down.
Confusion out of the way, die-hard Fallout fans couldn't wait to get to grips with Commonwealth Intimidation.

Away from a joke that Nexus Mods is hosting its own real-life version of Terminator 2's "I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle" scene, one fan cheered: "It's a really interesting mod , I hope someone mix it with karma mod so after killing someone it gets lower."
Another had their own suggestion on how things could be improved further as they added: "Would be awesome for enemies to understand when you are wearing power armor and powerful gear and be afraid of you. Surrender or run away when you kill a lot of their allies."
A third concluded: "Cool as hell!!!🥰 I think it would also be cool if we can turn intimidated enemies into a permanent settlers, Keeping their gear and stats and becoming essential. But this is just a suggestion🫶."
If you fancy yourself as something of a rootin' tootin' scoundrel who thinks you can take over the Commonwealth with just your own negotiation skills and a gun, head out into the carnage and try the Commonwealth Intimidation mod.
