GTA 6 confirms PlayStation exclusive release as Sony and Rockstar Games team-up

PlayStation has unveiled a new set of DualSense controllers for Grand Theft Auto VI.

As announced during Sony State of Play, two new PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers are set to launch later this year to coincide with the release of GTA VI.

One controller has a white shell, representing Vice City at daybreak, while the other has a black one to represent the city's nightlife.

However, both sport the iconic 'VI' logo along the controller trackpad, as well as featuring shiny neon colours along the front of the controllers to match the colour palette of the game and Vice City itself.

Limited edition GTA VI PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers are coming in November

"The black and white limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers each capture the essence of Vice City, from bright days along the coast to vibrant city nights," reads the press release from Sony.

"Both editions feature a shimmering, color-shifting finish that brings together the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon lights. They both also feature custom palm tree details molded directly into the controller, adding a unique tactile element alongside official Grand Theft Auto VI branding."

These controllers will be available around the time of GTA VI's launch, which occurs on November 19, 2026. They're priced at a recommended retail price of $84.99 USD, or ¥12,480 (including tax), €84.99, and £74.99.

Pre-orders are set to begin on September 10, 2026, at 10:00am local time.

They're also described as "limited edition", meaning they might not stay in stock for too long. So if you fancy yourself grabbing on, make sure you're quick on the button.

Grand Theft Auto VI will release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A recent 'Extended Look' aired on Netflix and YouTube showcased gameplay and story in more detail, revealing more about the characters and world of the game.

Pre-loads for the game begin a week earlier, on November 12, where anyone who has bought the game either digitally or with a boxed copy will be able to start downloading so they can play on the 19th.

Rockstar Games had previously announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will not be releasing a physical disc copy, with all pre-orders from physical retailers including a code to redeem the game on your platform of choice instead.
