It's almost been 10 whole years since the release of Fallout 4 and us fans are absolutely starving, with little sign of a new game in the series appearing any time soon.
As such, conversation has turned to the idea of potential remasters, particularly after Oblivion Remastered proved to be such a success for fans of the Elder Scrolls series, in lieu of a new game there (recent events for PC players notwithstanding).
Whilst it would be cool to see a remaster/remake of the first two Fallout games, most are hoping to see new versions of the games from the 3D-era onwards - namely Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The former is the one that's currently drawing the most attention from fans, particularly as it's the earlier of the two and the one that's more in need of a facelift, at the very least.
Over on Reddit, players debated the merits of going with a remake or remaster of Fallout 3, with all agreeing that they do want to see the game refreshed in some form.

"Fallout 3 for me is something special because it was the most immersive game I have ever played. After 20 minutes of playing, I forgot that I was in a game. I never had something similar with another game, the way this world was designed was somehow unique. So, remaster, no need to remake," one read.
Others pointed to the development of Fallout 5 as a reason that Bethesda, and fans, should favour a remaster over a remake, with one saying "Remaster. Don’t take any asset time away from Fallout 5 by trying to add on to a two generation old game. And this is from someone who has been playing since 1 and I would just like to be able to play 5 before I am 60."
Not all were in agreement though, with another countering, "Full remake. If it could get the full Oblivion treatment excluding the massacre of the lighting they did with it that would be nice.Oblivion went from nice and green to brown and orange. A Fallout 3 remake should look like Fallout 3."
So what exactly are the chances of seeing a refreshed Fallout 3 in the future? Well actually pretty good, and it might not even be that far away. Trusted leaker Detective Seeds shared his belief that a potential April 2026 release could happen at the conclusion of the ESO event.

The Oblivion Remastered shadow drop only lends credence to that theory, so with a bit of luck, we'll be back in the Capital Wasteland before long.
