Evidence of the The Elder Scrolls VI multiplayer mode has appeared online, which would make it the first feature of its kind for the mainline series.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced in 2018 with a teaser trailer featuring a lush flyover view of Tamriel before being introduced to the game’s logo. Other than that, we’ve not seen anything else on the action RPG from Bethesda. Sure we know it’s coming, but details at the time of writing are incredibly vague.

As reported by Tech4Gamers, Bethesda Game Studios is hiring for an Associate Level Designer and this job vacancy mentions that any would-be applicant must have a “strong familiarity with a variety of open-world multiplayer games.”

The safe assumption to make would be that this job vacancy could actually be for Bethesda’s dedicated multiplayer game, The Elder Scrolls Online. However, TESO is developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, whereas TESVI is developed by Bethesda Game Studios.

Of course, this job vacancy could be totally unrelated to The Elder Scrolls VI, but it’s certainly easy to put two and two together. If this particular rumour is true, it would be the first time that multiplayer has featured in a mainline game in the series without the use of community mods.

What’s more, given the fact that The Elder Scrolls VI was announced five years ago and we’ve practically heard nothing since, perhaps the reason is that Bethesda has been working on an additional multiplayer mode. Only time will tell.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that all rumours and speculation should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, hopefully, Bethesda will treat us to new The Elder Scrolls VI details and perhaps even a trailer in the near future.

In related news, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, not to mention the pending takeover of Activision Blizzard, Sony has voiced its concerns over the prospect of The Elder Scrolls VI being a PC and Xbox exclusive.
