Hogwarts Legacy 2 could be in jeopardy following a worrying revelation from Warner Bros. It could change everything.
The first Hogwarts Legacy game was a bit of a cash-cow for Warner Bros as it was released on basically every platform imaginable.
Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Nintendo Switch ... it was even ported to last-gen consoles to varying degrees of success.
It also quickly became the best-rated Harry Potter game ever so a sequel was basically confirmed from the very beginning.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is currently in development but fan excitement might now transition into dread as Warner Bros recently announced its considering acquisition offers.
David Zaslav, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, provided a statement saying: “It’s no surprise that the significant value of our portfolio is receiving increased recognition by others in the market. After receiving interest from multiple parties, we have initiated a comprehensive review of strategic alternatives to identify the best path forward to unlock the full value of our assets.”
Obviously nothing has been agreed on just yet but if Warner Bros does get acquired, it could potentially change the way video games are handled by the company.
The worst case scenario would be a cancellation. This is unlikely as Hogwarts Legacy 2 would practically be a guaranteed win and a great bit of revenue. What it could mean though is a rework or maybe a delay to the game’s release, not that we have a release date yet.

Whoever gains control of Warner Bros would also gain control of its film franchises, with the DCU looking incredibly promising right now so no wonder there are a few businesses looking for their slice of the pie.
As for the interested parties, it’s unclear which companies are eyeing up Warner Bros but the public have a few ideas…
“Disney has the opportunity to do the funniest thing to James Gunn,” said one fan in response to the announcement.
Ultimately, we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves, because was David Zaslav said, at the time of writing, the company is merely considering offers and coming up with the best path forward.

It’s looking increasingly likely that acquisition is part of that path forward but for the time being, nothing is set in stone.
Hopefully, if a new company does take over, it’ll mean only good things for Warner Bros games, whether it be Hogwarts Legacy 2 or other projects in development.
