Who would have thought it, Ubisoft has finally acknowledged Beyond Good & Evil 2 in a big way to celebrate a massive milestone.

Beyond Good & Evil from Assassin’s Creed publisher, Ubisoft was originally released in 2003 for PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube. While Beyond Good & Evil wasn't a big seller for Ubisoft at the time, it’s gone down in history as somewhat of a cult classic with fans.

In 2008, Ubisoft revealed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 was in development with a cinematic trailer before being re-revealed once more at E3 in 2017. A prequel to the original 2003 game, to say that Beyond Good & Evil 2 has had a troublesome launch, would be a massive understatement.

In 2022, Beyond Good & Evil 2 broke a world record that Ubisoft most certainly did not want to become the longest game in development ever, surpassing the record of 14 years previously held by Duke Nukem Forever. At the time of writing, Beyond Good & Evil 2 has now entered a whopping 16 years in development.

However, while we’re yet to get another re-reveal for Beyond Good & Evil 2, Ubisoft announced this week that the original game in the series is getting another remaster. There was previously a basic HD remaster for Beyond Good & Evil for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition arrives next week on 25 June 2024. What’s more, not only will this anniversary release get a digital launch, but there will also be a physical release which includes a Collector’s Edition to be sold via Limited Run Games with pre-orders going live on 12 July.

The Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition will be playable up to a 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. It will also feature quality-of-life improvements including autosave, cutscene skip, controller and mouse support as well as cross-save across all available platforms.

Moreover, it will also include an all-new Speedrun Mode, an anniversary gallery, new in-game cosmetic rewards and over 20 new achievements/trophies to acquire for all you hunters. Finally, and perhaps most exciting of all is an exclusive new mission that will link the narrative to Beyond Good & Evil 2.

Ubisoft hasn't provided further details on how the exclusive mission will link to Beyond Good & Evil 2, but at least this prequel is finally being acknowledged once more after all these years.

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition will be released on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
