Assassin's Creed Mirage gameplay trailer looks incredible

Well, I had plenty of predictions ahead of tonight’s PlayStation Showcase but I really didn’t think we’d be getting our first look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage with the Ubisoft Forward just around the corner but hey, here we are. It’s a pleasant surprise because let me tell you, the gameplay looks fantastic.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Ubisoft are set to return to annual Assassin’s Creed releases, following a difficult financial year and the quiet cancellation of three unannounced games. After Mirage, we already know about Codename Red, Codename Hexe, and Codename Jade but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will feature Valhalla’s Basim and is set in ninth century Baghdad. For months, we’ve been hearing that the game will utilise Unity’s parkour system and return to the franchise’s roots and if this new trailer is anything to go by, that certainly seems to be true.

Take a look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s gameplay in action below.

Not only did we get our first glimpse at that slick gameplay, we also finally have a release date. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release on 12 October. Let the countdown begin. In the trailer we see Basim effortlessly traversing across rooftops and catching his victims by surprise, so there’s that stealth-based parkour infused gameplay we heard so much about.

We should also take a moment to appreciate the graphics. Assassin’s Creed has, in my opinion, always been a series packed full with detailed words that are a delight to explore (Yes, even Odyssey) so I’m glad to see that’s still the case with Mirage.

The synopsis for Mirage describes the game as a “coming of age story”, adding that we’ll learn how Basim - a street thief - came to join the Hidden Ones, chronicling his tutelage under his mentor Roshan.
