Ever since Altais first dove from the tower in Masyaf in the original Assassin's Creed, we have been unlocking more of the details behind the eternal struggle between Assassin's and Templars.
One of the best experiences we have had over the course of that journey came in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, where players took control of charming rogue and fledgling pirate Edward Kenway, as he attempts to forge a life on the high seas of the Caribbean.
Despite coming out well over a decade ago, it is still widely considered one of, if not the, best game in the entire series. The ship combat was particularly spectacular, with a solid story and a nice blend of combat styles that reflect Kenway's varied background.
With all of that popular reception, some kind of direct sequel seemed like an obvious choice for Ubisoft, but fans have been left disappointed as that game failed to materialise.

Now, a new book is finally set to let us all take a look at exactly what happened to Edward Kenway following the startling conclusion of Black Flag.
Assassin's Creed: Forgotten Temple, Vol. 1 follows Noa Kim, a modern ancestor of Kenway who is forced to explore the pirate's memories by Templar proxy company Abstergo.
Though there aren't too many details on what exactly will take place, the blurb for the book does make it seem like it will follow Kenway much later in his life than the game.
"It’s time for infamous pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway to take on one last swashbuckling mission! Shifting alliances with new friends, deadly battles with the scheming Templars, and all-new enemies are going to put all of Kenway’s skills to the test in Assassin’s Creed: Forgotten Temple," the blurb reads.
