Nintendo's newest AAA release has dropped a delicious free taster

Nintendo’s latest AAA game releases this week, and you’ll be able to check it out for free ahead of its highly anticipated launch.
It’s fair to say that when it comes to first-party AAA releases, Nintendo more often than not knocks it out of the park, whether it’s Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Donkey Kong and more.
In 2015, Nintendo launched the new third-person multiplayer shooter, Splatoon. In Splatoon, players are pitted against each other in teams of two. Yet, rather than killing each other, the first team to paint the map with their team colours wins. It’s quite possibly the most family-friendly and wholesome shooter ever.
The success of Splatoon would then spawn two sequels in 2017 and 2022, respectively, with each game improving on its chaotic multiplayer shenanigans. However, this year, we’re getting a new game in the series that focuses more on the story over competitive multiplayer, that game is Splatoon Raiders, and you can play it exclusively in US retailers, Walmart and Best Buy, as well as EB Games in Canada.

“Play as the mechanic, working with Deep Cut – a trio of swashbuckling musicians – and venture out into the mysterious Spirhalite Islands in search of treasure! Customise your character, kit yourself out with mechanical Gadgets and a host of ink-flinging weapons, and take on waves of foes called Salmonids,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“A member of Deep Cut will accompany you in a powerful construct called the Exploration Bot to help fend off enemies and gather up the loot! Bring your haul back to camp, upgrade your gear, then head out on the hunt for even more treasure!”
Splatoon Raiders releases exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, July 23. Hopefully, there’ll be a demo to download on the eShop around launch. Fingers crossed.
