The Walking Dead game called 'shameless cash grab' after bug prevents players from finishing

Surprising absolutely no one, The Walking Dead: Destinies has a major bug that prevents you from beating the game, and players are furious.

In case you missed it, The Walking Dead: Destinies is a game that follows the first three seasons of the hit TV series The Walking Dead. It’s not the first game to tackle the zombie-survival IP, and many would still consider TellTale’s The Walking Dead series to be the best adaptation so far.

Take a look at The Walking Dead: Destinies below if you're feeling brave.

Instead of following a fixed narrative, The Walking Dead: Destinies lets you make choices that change the entire timeline of the show. For instance, during the infamous stand-off between Rick Grimes and Shane Walsh, you can decide which survivor wins and lives to tell the tale.

It’s a great concept, but held back by poor execution. The game was made by the same team behind Skull Island: Rise Of Kong, meaning it’s graphically outdated, and the gameplay doesn’t exactly hold up either.

Fans of the series were absolutely horrified with its quality, especially since it’s been sold for a premium price. Now players are calling it a “shameless cash grab” after a game-breaking bug has prevented players from finishing the game.

As reported by ComicBook, Twitter user @ShirrakoGaming shared their experience online, saying if you play on PlayStation 5, you can only get so far into the story before the game prevents you from going any further. They went on to flame the publisher GameMill, accusing them of releasing a “broken game that is in need of a patch to finish,” for $50. It’s reported several content creators “all stopped during the same bugged section, awaiting a patch from the devs.”

Unfortunate news for The Walking Dead fans, and worrying for GameMill too, which has now released two broken games in the same year, joining the likes of Gollum for the worst-rated games of 2023.

The Walking Dead: Destinies is available for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and PC platforms.
