Star Wars drops first official teaser for new sequel to Return Of The Jedi

The aftermath of the Empire's fall

The events of Return Of The Jedi are being continued with a new comic storyline, as the New Republic tackles what remains of the Imperials.

Return Of The Jedi might not be the best film in the original trilogy, I think we can all agree that’s Empire Strikes Back, but it was a satisfying conclusion to the story, especially with Luke’s growth as a Jedi Knight.

Feeling nostalgic? Here's the teaser for Return Of The Jedi

In the next Star Wars film in the timeline, The Force Awakens, several years have passed but it does little to fill the audience in on what happened in-between the two films.

Fortunately, a new comic series is doing just that, and aims to tell a new tale while also showing us what became of the Rebels after they blew up the second Death Star.

Titled Star Wars: The Battle Of Jakku, the comic’s description reads: “In the wake of the battle of Endor, can Luke, Leia and the nascent New Republic stave off an unexpected — and deadly — new threat? A defiant Imperial takes centre stage — and goes on the offensive against the New Republic! Leia makes a startling discovery in the forests of Endor!"

It continues, “Who are the mysterious and deadly Acolytes Of The Beyond?! What is the new villain's connection to Darth Vader? All this as the post-Return of the Jedi storytelling begins!”

The story sees what remains of the Imperials essentially telling each other that Emperor Palpatine is alive and well, which he might be actually, Darth Vader didn’t turn to the Light Side, and they’ve still got a chance to crush the Rebels.

This essentially cuts the celebrations on Endor short, and the gang heads back to the battlefield to defeat the Empire once and for all.

If the sequel trilogy left too many gaps in the Star Wars history for you to bear, this comic continuation sounds like it’ll be just what you need, and it’s out tomorrow, 2 October.
