Star Wars is a vast franchise, spanning numerous generations of tales from a faraway galaxy. Yet, there’s one area that’s largely been left alone.

However, that is about to change.

A new era of Star Wars tales is on the horizon, promising to build a bridge between the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Rather than tell these stories on the big screen, they will be told across several limited series as part of the ‘Battle of Jakku’ saga.

To prepare us for these new adventures, Marvel has released a teaser to showcase just how gorgeous this new chapter in the sprawling franchise will be.

In total, there are 12 different covers, some of which highlight familiar and beloved characters like Luke and Leia, while others throw up a surprise or two.

Respected writer Alex Segura will pen the ‘Battle of Jakku’, while a team of artists comprising of Leonard Kirk, Luke Ross, Stefano Raffaele, and Jethro Morales will help bring those words to life.

When asked about the project, Segura spoke of its “epic” qualities.

“It's an unbelievable honour to be able to tell this lost story of Star Wars history, alongside so many amazing artists [...] Our story will be epic in scope – involving all the major characters you love, plus some new, exciting additions to the mythos.

“The goal for all of us is to turn up the volume and make sure this adventure stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the other stories of the era. As the Empire collapses, a new darkness arises!” they added.

You can begin your journey on the 2 October when the first issue will go on sale.

This is the very start of the explosive new chapter – you definitely don’t want to miss it!
