New Star Wars sequel actually makes Palpatine's resurrection interesting

The game was rigged from the start

The new Star Wars series addresses Palpatine’s death much better than The RIse Of Skywalker did, implying that the Sith lord’s return was planned from the start.

Out of all the plot holes and rewrites in the Star Wars universe I don’t think there has or ever will be one more offensive than Oscar Isaac saying, “Somehow Palpatine returned". Even non-Star Wars fans can probably appreciate how silly that line is.

That said The Rise Of Skywalker was a silly movie in general, use the trailer to remind yourself.

That said, the new Star Wars comic series, Star Wars: A New Dawn, is attempting to make Palpatine’s return make sense, and its attempts aren't half-bad.

Taking place almost immediately after the battle of Endor, a message is sent out to The Empire from Palpatine beyond the grave.

The message reads, “Operation: Cinder is to begin at once. Resistance. Rebellion. Defiance. These are concepts that cannot be allowed to persist. You are but one of many tools by which these ideas shall be burned away.“

The hardcore Star Wars fans will know all about Operation Cinder, it was even referenced in the second season of The Mandalorian, but that’s not the most interesting part of this story.

What’s interesting is just how quickly Palpatine’s plan came into effect, as it was mere hours after his death implying he’d planned the whole thing from the start.

Palpatine definitely seems like the kind of guy to have contingencies, but whether he had one that led all the way up to the events of Rise Of Skywalker is another question.

It’s never been fully explained how he came back, but it is implied that he’s some sort of clone, which was probably another one of his contingencies for if he ever bit the dust when he wasn't supposed to.

Star Wars has been very silly and convoluted with its histories lately, but at least some of the new stories are trying to make it all make sense.
