There's a weird anomaly in films and books with a large cast of characters, where two main figures inexplicably never speak to each other, or even never meet at all.
One obvious example in recent years was Legolas' very limited interactions with Frodo during their quest to destroy the ring and defeat Sauron. Sure, they are separated for a lot of it, but they still meet in Rivendell and go through Moria and Amon Hen together, and the only time either of them says anything to the other is when Legolas says "and my bow" during the Council of Elrond.
Star Wars, it seems, is no exception, as fans have started to work out which characters never met in the movies, who you would otherwise expect to. Poe Dameron and Rey never meet in the sequel trilogy, for example, but there is an ever more notable example from the prequels - Darth Sidious and Obi-Wan Kenobi never crossed paths.
A post noting that fact on Reddit was met with some confused responses thanks to the character's alter ego. Obi-Wan spoke with Chancellor Palpatine several times, including at the end of the Phantom Menace when Palpatine congratulates him for defeating Darth Maul alongside his slain master Qui-Gon Jinn.

There is obviously the argument that Palpatine was Sidious the whole time, but as major figures on either side of the struggle between good and evil, it's weird that they never had the chance to confront each other.
That said, the two never get to speak or confront one another after Palpatine's true identity as the Sith lord Sidious is revealed. The responses were actually quite refreshed by that revelation, with one saying "I actually liked that. Sometimes the heroes and villains doesn't need to meet each other, as they defend things greater than themselves."
Others took the opportunity to point out other characters who missed out on spending time together. "Probably an obvious one, but Yoda never meets Leia or Han, unless you count seeing Leia as a baby. Neither Luke nor Han even know that Tarkin exists, never mind actually meeting him. And that’s despite that fact that he’s a main villain and they’re main heroes. Han and Leia never meet Palpatine," one read.
Darth Vader often acted as the confrontation point for Obi-Wan, instead of his master Sidious, and with the fate of those two characters so intertwined, it's little surprise that those two were the major point of friction after Revenge of the Sith.
