A brand new Star Wars series is dividing the fan base, and it’s all Qui-Gon Jinn’s fault (somehow).

Remember how cool Qui-Gon Jinn seemed in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace?

Dude showed up for one movie, died at the end of it, and then never really appeared again afterwards (unlike every other dead Jedi, who either refuse to actually stay dead or constantly pop up as a force ghost).

Well he’s back! Or at least, he has been back for a while, because he keeps popping up in issues of the new Marvel Comics Star Wars series, Star Wars: Jedi Knights.

So, what’s the issue exactly? Fans have wanted Qui-Gon back for ages, so why are folks suddenly annoyed to see him return?

Well, based on the comments in a thread over on the r/starwarscomics subreddit, there is apparently such a thing as too much Qui-Gon Jin.

“Didn't really feel like a "Jedi Knights" story per se but not bad either. I do think Guggenheim is maybe focusing a bit too much on Qui-Gon in this run”, commented user so_yeah_I_guess_sure.

“Not that I dislike Qui-Gon, but the promise of the series was to be getting a story about a new Jedi every issue but Qui-Gon has been one of the main characters in nearly every issue, including the FCBD story! Would love to see some of the lesser seen Jedi get a chance to shine. It feels like Guggenheim would rather be writing a Qui-Gon series instead.”

“Idk, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all these characters in one book”, replied user Chemical_Jackfruit_7.

“I can understand how Qui Gon is getting a lil stale, hopefully we get more Jedis…”

Maybe this is more a testament to how little there is to Qui-Gon’s character overall, because I can’t see people complaining about having Obi-Wan constantly show up in a series.

Perhaps they should do more to round out Qui-Gon’s character, like, for instance, in a solo comic book series? Just a thought.
