MCU Rogue Casting Leak Hailed as ‘Inspired’ By Viewers

Marvel is quietly assembling the next live-action X-Men team for its upcoming film from The Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier.

The X-Men from the Fox films will be making a comeback for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, presumably for one last hurrah before they’re replaced for good when the new team is ready.

While no one has been cast yet there are reports that Rogue will be part of the team, and actress Margaret Qualley is the top pick to bring her back to the big-screen. Rogue was a key character in the Fox X-Men films where she was played by Anna Paquin.

While fans have had differing opinions on this choice the majority of reactions I’ve seen to the news have been pretty positive.

Take this Reddit thread for example where one commenter said “I totally see it, her mom can help her with the accent.”

Several other big name actresses have been suggested for the role as well, ranging from Sophie Thatcher to Elizabeth Gillies.

Personally I can see Qualley doing some interesting things for the role. She’s a highly versatile actress and you can’t deny that she doesn’t look the part.

What I’m wondering is if Channing Tatum will continue playing Gambit in live-action in the next phase of the MCU…

Tatum is returning for the next Avengers films and has said he’ll be playing a slightly more serious version of the character than the one we saw in Deadpool And Wolverine.

Regardless I sincerely hope the MCU X-Men film includes both characters. Their relationship has led to some great storylines over the years, culminating in X-Men ‘97’s first season, with the second season hinting at some further developments.

We’ve got a long time to wait before we get an official casting, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see some of our new X-Men making a cheeky appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, or at least hinted at towards the end of the film.
