
The MCU is in a bit of a weird spot right now, as it continues to try to get to grips with an audience that needed a significant amount of motivation to lock-in after Endgame ended so many of the stories we'd been following for a decade or more.
No superhero film has managed to break the $700 million mark this year for the first time since 2011, amongst either DC's or Marvel's pantheon, and all of the signs point to a fatigue that could be difficult for the studios to overcome.
That said, if any comic storyline could bring old heads back and new fans in, then it's likely the beloved mid-80s crossover limited series Secret Wars. Though other Marvel releases like Secret Invasion and Civil War only used the bare bones of the source material, the upcoming releases in Doomsday and Secret Wars should be very cool movies, even if they only do the same thing.
Unfortunately, as first reported by BamSmackPow, Marvel insider Alex Perez stated that the MCU could revert to having just one Spider-Man, with the stories for Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire ending after Secret Wars.

Now obviously those characters aren't really part of the primary continuity anyway, so it might not come as a surprise to everyone, but it will be pretty heart-wrenching stuff if they kill them off.
Both actors returned to their roles as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man in 2021's No Way Home, as all three modern Spider-Men met for the first time in a moment that was one of the more epic in the MCU post-Endgame.
With a long time to go between now and the scheduled 2027 release of Secret Wars, there is plenty of time for plans to change amidst real-life complications. Whether any Spider-Man will be left standing when all is said and done, remains to be seen.
