Marvel Lovers Lose It As Avengers: Doomsday Drops First Official Tease

What does this mean?

There is still over a year to go until Marvel fans finally get to see the first Avengers movie in seven years and with Doctor Doom set to take on the mantle of the Big Bad, a recent tease has got fans feeling the hype… and a whole lot of confusion.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to launch in December 2026 and with still a long while to go until we see some of our favourite superheroes team up to take down Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, there is still plenty of time for the Russo brothers to tease fans.

That is certainly what they have done today after posting a very cryptic screenshot on their Instagram account.

With the caption “#DoomsdayIsComing”, the screenshot shows, well, we don’t quite know as it seems to be a very zoomed in and blurry image.

Of course, trying to work out what the Russos are showing us here is part of the fun and Marvel fans are already coming together to scrutinise this latest teaser.

Over on Twitter, there is a whole lot of confusion but amongst all of the confusion-related gifs, there are some theories.

“Dr. Doom's Castle language I think,” one user suggested.

“Latveria writing,” another user added, referencing Latveria, a fictional country often appearing in Marvel Comics.

However, fans over on r/marvelstudios as well as in the comments of the official Instagram post think it may relate to The Fantastic Four’s Reed.

“I believe this is Reed’s chalkboard,” many suggest.

However, user daredevil0002 on Instagram is thinking even bigger.

“Probably Doom's chalkboard,” their comment reads.

“Him figuring out how to travel through the Multiverse. Or how much time before MCU Earth and X-Men Earth have an incursion?”

Eagle-eyed fans will also notice that Josh Brolin himself has liked the Russo brother’s post so could this have something to do with Thanos making a return?

There are just too many options and who knows? Maybe the post will make a lot more sense over time.

For now, fans will have to wait until next December to work out if this is Reed’s chalkboard, Doom’s chalkboard, a fictional language or something else entirely.

However, there is no denying that this mystery will keep us occupied as filming continues for the next instalment in the Avengers franchise.
