Marvel Fans Decode Morse Code Hidden Signal in MCU's Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

Could they be onto something?

Marvel fans may have found their first real clue amidst the various teasers for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Already, four trailers for the film have landed, although they’re technically not trailers at all. That’s if we’re to believe what the Russo brothers have said.

The teasers were dropped prior to screenings of Avatar: Ash and Fire and subsequently released online, which is where the Russo brothers then revealed all.

“What you’ve been watching for the last four weeks … are not teasers. Or trailers. They are stories. They are clues … Pay attention. #DoomsdayHasBegun,” they cryptically wrote in a since-deleted post.

Those trailers have reacquainted us with Thor, the characters of the Black Panther films, and the Fantastic Four as well as more excitingly marking the debut of the X-Men in the MCU and the return of Chris Evans’ Captain America.

Naturally, avid fans have spent the last week or so pouring over said “clues”, wondering what the Russo brothers could possibly mean.

Is any of this footage in the final film? Have we been fed a lie?

To date, nothing solid has really come to light … until now. It looks as if we may have our first clue, fellas.

I Hope You Can Read Morse Code

Reddit user YTubeSurgeonGeneral is the one behind this discovery, taking to the site to share their findings.

“I found a MAJOR CLUE in the X-Men Doomsday teaser trailer,” they began.

“How is it that nobody has noticed that from 0:08 to 0:15 in the Cyclops/X-Men teaser trailer for Doomsday, the two flickering lights are actually spelling something out in Morse Code?

“It took me a few watches and about an hour earlier to decipher that the code of the one light blinking on the chandelier is ‘SOS’ and the message on the light blinking by the door and behind the right staircase is ‘X-Men’ OR ‘HOPE’.

“If it's X-Men, then I think it's just an Easter egg, but if it's ‘HOPE’ and ‘SOS,’ then I think there's some kind of clue in those two messages, but I haven't had enough time to figure out what said clues might mean. Thoughts?”

Well, that certainly gives us something to ponder if this light is indeed supposed to be indicating something via Morse Code.

“It would be kind of funny if, after all this speculation and discussing, Sadie Sink was Hope Summers,” replied Jibbjabb43.

“Everyone thinks they’re the genius who cracked the code. My thoughts are go outside and take a walk,” said a more dubious Character_Skirt_4319.

“Hope Summers. Dr Doom took Cyclops' child. Seems to be a running theme,” wrote Wordly_Influence_18.

I do share everyone’s concerns over the translation. By all accounts, ‘hope’ and ‘X-Men’ would appear radically different in Morse Code, so it’s hard to say how much we can buy into what the OP is saying.

Still, I think this is a fun little bit of investigative speculation and at the end of the day, that’s what the Russo brothers have tasked us with.
