The release of Avengers: Doomsday really does feel like a pivotal moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the studio attempts to reinvest audiences in its biggest projects moving forward.

There's no doubt that, for many, Avengers: Endgame served as a bit of a natural stopping point, with the defeat of Thanos marking the point at which many of the franchise's most beloved characters and actors took a step back.

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson were all seemingly done, though it has obviously since emerged that there is no such thing as a true end to anyone's Marvel career if they're popular enough.

As such, Downey Jr. is returning in Avengers: Doomsday, only this time as antagonist Doctor Doom, whilst Evans is also set to appear in some capacity as his former character, though exactly how this will work is unclear.

Now, as is seemingly tradition at this point, the latest trailer for the upcoming movie has leaked online early, and it's promising the return of some other major characters in the universe.

Leaked Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Confirms Black Panther and Fantastic Four

As first reported by IGN, the upcoming trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has leaked online and it features our first look at the appearances of Shuri as Black Panther, King M'Baku, Namora, and Namor in the film.

Shuri is obviously not in a great place after the events of Black Panther 2, with the overall tone around the characters definitely feeling pretty heavy.

On the flip side of that is The Fantastic Four, who are definitely going to bring a little more levity to proceedings, with the trailer showing a fun little moment in which M'Baku meets the even more massive Ben Grimm in his form as The Thing.

The trailer closes out with the line, "The Wakandans and The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers: Doomsday." It's obviously pretty cool to have confirmation that these beloved characters are going to make an appearance in some form, and that comes after the arguably even more exciting news that the X-Men, including Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier and Ian McKellen's Magneto, are also set to hit the big screen once again.

The overriding tone in all of the trailers we have seen so far is definitely one of fear though, and Doctor Doom's plans clearly have Earth's greatest heroes in a bit of a state. Fortunately, we don't have too long to wait before finding out exactly what is going on, with the film set to release on 18 December, 2026.
