The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been flailing for some time now, with fans really refusing to turn out in anything like the same numbers since the release of Avengers: Endgame, all the way back in 2019.
There may be some level of fatigue attached to that trend, but for a lot of people (myself included), Endgame really served as a great stopping point after years of personal investment in the characters and storylines.
That said, the release of Avengers: Doomsday could be the shot in the arm the franchise needs to bring back the glory days and draw in several billion dollars into the war chest in the process.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to make a return as the major antagonist for the film in Doctor Doom, whilst other beloved characters are also set to come back to draw on a little of that old magic once again.

That includes many of the original members of the X-Men, who could be about to play a genuinely major role in the struggle for victory, particularly if a recently leaked trailer is to be believed.
X-Men Battle For Their Lives in Third Teaser Trailer

As first reported by IGN, the third Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailer appears to have leaked online, and it revolves around the X-Men in a devastating battle for the future of humanity and their heroes.
The trailer seemingly takes place in the X-Mansion, also known as Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and features many of the franchise's most recognisable and iconic characters, including Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops.
The latter is seen to be battling one of Doctor Doom's Sentinels, with many believing that this will ultimately result in the defeat of the X-Men, establishing just how dangerous Downey Jr's character has the potential to be.
Most of the X-Men are set to be played by the actors who originally took on the role, including Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cummings as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and James Marsden as Cyclops.
It's also cool to see that the design team has gone with a version of Cyclops that's very accurate to the comic book, answering years worth of fan calls to see something similar.
The X-Men are set to be joined by a returning Chris Evans as Captain America, as well as Chris Hemsworth's Thor, accompanied by his daughter Love.
