Blade has technically already made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but not in his own film, which is still going through hell behind-the-scenes.
Taking over from Wesley Snipes, who presumably played the character for the final time in Deadpool And Wolverine, it’ll be Mahershala Ali stepping into the vampire slayer’s shoes next.
Mahershala Ali’s version of the character made an off-screen appearance during the end-credit scene of Eternals, and later appeared in What If?.. Season 3 and Marvel Zombies where he wielded the power of the Moon Knight.
Production on his live-action outing though is in shambles, changing hands several times and having to have its script rewritten. Apparently both Mahershala Ali and Kevin Feige have been livid with the developments, but Ali is still reportedly onboard with bringing the character to life.

A brief but promising update has since been shared though, coming from actress Mia Goth who’ll also be starring in the film.
In an interview with ELLE Magazine, Goth briefly spoke about the upcoming MCU project saying, “It’s for the best that it’s taken the time that it has. They want to do it right.”
While the constant delays have been frustrating, I think most MCU fans would agree with Mia Goth that it’s for the best, as Blade is a character that deserves to be handled with respect and care.
We arguably wouldn’t even have the MCU if it weren’t for Blade, as before it became the titan it is now, Marvel ran into several financing problems resulting in it lending the rights to its IPs to big production studios. From those arrangements, Blade (1998) came to be and made a case for more Marvel superhero films to be made.

Marvel Studios reportedly has big plans for the character beyond his solo film as well, as rumour has it that The Midnight Sons will be assembled at some point in the MCU’s future.
The Midnight Sons are like The Avengers but are composed of the darker and often supernatural Marvel heroes such as Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider. Reports claim the MCU’s version of the team will closely follow both Blade and Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight, which is great news for fans of the latter show which sadly hasn’t received a second season yet.
Keep on waiting MCU fans, Blade will get his time to shine sooner or later and hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.
