Jonathan Majors dropped by Marvel, facing up to one year in prison

Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of harassment and assault, and is now facing up to a year in prison.

Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of harassment and assault, and is now facing up to a year in prison.

Early this year, the 34-year-old was arrested following a conflict with Grace Jabbari, his girlfriend at the time. It’s believed Jabbari saw suspicious texts on Majors’ phone, and when attempting to take the device the actor twisted her arm and struck her on the head.

Jonathan Majors was planned to be the next main villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his most appearance being Loki Season 2

After a lengthy trial, Majors was convicted yesterday and is now being faced with charges of third-degree assault and second-degree aggravated assault.

The film and TV star will now be dropped from any ongoing or future roles, the most notable of which being Kang The Conqueror in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kang is the current iteration of the MCU’s big-bad, already appearing in both seasons of the Disney+ show Loki, as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

It’s a tough pill to swallow for Marvel fans, many of whom were worried Majors would be axed from future projects and what that would mean for the wider story the MCU is currently setting up.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, as well as one of the upcoming Avengers films being called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it’s safe to say Kang was supposed to be the main focus for future films, shows, and post-credit scenes.

Majors may simply be recast, which would make sense given the flexibility provided by “variants,” which is to say the same characters we’ve seen already but from alternate universes, opening the door for different actors to take over the roles. Another option would be shifting the focus to another villain, with the fan-favourite choice being Doctor Doom.

Marvel is yet to officially comment on the charges against Majors at the time of writing, though an official statement on how it’ll affect future projects will likely be released soon.
