The Witcher 3's Bloody Baron quest remains unmatched, fans agree

The Bloody Baron quest is one of the most memorable moments in The Witcher 3

Few people would likely argue against the claim that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best RPGs of all time.

Originally released in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was met with high critical acclaim across the board from reviewers and fans alike. Some could say with validity that this fantasy RPG starring Geralt of Rivia put CD Projekt RED on the map. It easily set the standard for the studio for the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and beyond.

“You are Geralt of Rivia, mercenary monster slayer. Before you stand on a war-torn, monster-infested continent you can explore at will. Your current contract? Tracking down Ciri — the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that can alter the shape of the world,” reads the synopsis of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

There is so much to enjoy in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, whether it be its engaging main story, the immersive open world of the Continent, its diverse cast of characters, or the epic battles with monsters and demons that require plenty of strategic planning if Geralt is to be victorious. Another factor of this brilliant game is its side missions, some of which are better than the main campaign. One such mission is the ‘Bloody Baron’ quest.

Before we proceed, please be advised that there will be spoilers ahead. “Playing through this quest for the fifth time now, and damn it still hits hard,” exclaimed Redditor LordBruno47.

“This entire quest line is masterfully done. I always help him find Anna, and I always ensure that they get their 'happy' ending. As happy as it can get in the world of The Witcher 3, I suppose,” replied Gilgamesh661. “Both he and Anna were horrible people, but I do feel like this event really woke the baron up, and I really hope he found that hermit and helped his wife recover.”

“One of the best quests I’ve played in a game. I started fully prepared to hate the guy, but seeing the whole story unfold, actually listening to his side, and seeing how he treated Ciri, changed my opinion of him,” said ZealousidealAd7191. “I really started to empathise with him, he made me think he’s not quite the monster they initially wanted us to think he was.”

If you’ve not experienced the ‘Bloody Baron’ quest or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for that matter, you can pick up this critically acclaimed fantasy RPG on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
