How’re we all feeling after that episode, then? ‘When We Are In Need’ was arguably the most explosive instalment of The Last of Us to date, and saw Ellie fending for herself against a group of cannibals while a very injured Joel forced himself awake to defend himself against the hunters who had been sent after him.

Of course, this meant that Ellie met the show’s most disturbing antagonist so far, David. The leader of the cult-like cannibalistic group was somehow even creepier in the show than he was in the game, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who was basically yelling at the screen every time he went near Ellie. By the end of the episode, he meets a very gruesome fate at the hands of our young protagonist, and as TheGamer reports, that final fight scene has got fans demanding for Bella Ramsey to be given an Emmy for their performance.

While you’re here, take a look at the teaser trailer for the final episode of The Last of Us season one below.

“This episode was THE episode for Bella Ramsey. BELLA IS COMING TO COLLECT ALL THE AWARDS IN FACT LET’S JUST GIVE THEM ALL TO BELLA RIGHT NOW,” @ellievjoel tweeted. “Ellie’s screams while David held her down both [times] oh my god it had me shaking and crying, Bella Ramsey you WILL be getting that Emmy I promise you that… I haven’t felt that type of emotion from a show in FOREVER,” wrote @voidsinclair. “Someone hand Bella Ramsey their Emmy right now,” @ENDURE_SURVlVE posted, along with a clip of Ellie’s final showdown with David.

Sadly though, the end is almost upon us. The Last of Us’ ninth episode (and the finale of season one) is set to air on Sunday 12 March in the U.S., and Monday 13 March in the UK. Fear not, though - the show is set to return for at least one more season in the future.
