New 'Starfield' Update Should Get Fans Excited

Todd Howard has broken his silence on the status of Starfield following delays.

As is the case with so many titles these days, Starfield fell victim to delays just a few short weeks ago. I say fell victim, we’d much rather the devs put the time they need into completing the game to the very best possible quality, but that doesn’t make delays any less disappointing.

Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG Starfield was due to launch in November but it’s now set to land in the first half of 2023. Also, yes. Those were a couple of spaceship puns I threw in there. Thank you for noticing.

Check out some of Starfield's locations below whilst we await a full reveal trailer.

Starfield is a big deal. After all, it’s Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years so you can see why fans are clamouring to get their hands on it. The good news is, it’s unlikely we’ll see any further delays as game director and producer Todd Howard confirmed that work on Starfield is practically finished. During a recent media briefing, he said, “We're putting the finishing touches on Starfield, which is an incredible opportunity for us.”

As reported by GamesRadar, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer also chimed in promising that Starfield would be a “hallmark for us.” He said, “Starfield for me is a unique opportunity. Todd Howard has been a friend for an awful long time, and the fact that Bethesda Game Studios is working on a new IP, which has been a long time [coming] ... This will be a hallmark for us – in terms of the acquisition of ZeniMax, getting to work with Todd, and bringing this game to market."

He went on to tease, “I've seen a lot of this game, people are going to see more of it, and I love setting the goal of: Let's get more players for this game than in any other game." That’s a bold goal but given Bethesda’s back catalogue (namely The Elder Scrolls series), we have high hopes for what Starfield can achieve. I would say the sky’s the limit, but we’re talking about space here so it’s really not.
