Starfield's confirmed number of romance options leaves fans divided

Starfield's confirmed number of romance options has left some fans feeling divided.

Starfield is one of the most highly anticipated games in years, not only from Bethesda but from the industry as a whole.

After being in the making for decades, Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG arrives on PC and Xbox Series X|S this September. Dubbed by some as ‘Skyrim in space’, Starfield will give fans a galaxy to explore like never before, perhaps only seen in the likes of No Man's Sky, Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous.

Starfield promises to not only feature the largest city that Bethesda has ever created, but will provide over 1000 planets to explore. However, it is said that only about 100 of those planets will have forms of life.

What’s more, following the recent Starfield Direct, Bethesda chief Todd Howard has been providing fans with snippets of added information to get fans further excited. Well, for the most part, at least. Some fans have grown concerned that Starfield will only support 30fps on Xbox, despite there being a good reason for that.

What’s more, following details on the number of characters we’ll be able to romance in Starfield, has left some fans feeling divided. In response to a story from Twinfinite with the headline “The Number of Romance Options in Starfield Has Been Confirmed & You Might Be Disappointed,” those fans have been discussing their concerns on Reddit.

“Oh definitely not,” said Redditor krul2k. “I'd rather have one romance that had an in-depth story and expanded the game than a million blank faces that say yes because you equipped a necklace.” That sentiment seems to be reflected for the most part, at least in this thread.

“I'm not very disappointed; I am not playing the game in search of a romance,” added whatintheballs95. “I've never once "married" in a Bethesda game so I'm good,” replied HyperTyper. “I can however understand those who want it though. I would be bummed out if there were only two different spacesuits.”

In related news, Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer has recently revealed that Starfield was nearly a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
