Starfield's Second Expansion Has Gamers Hyped to Dive Back In

Starfield isn't done just yet

Starfield has been on a bit of a journey since launching back in 2023. Bethesda head honcho Todd Howard did a brilliant job hyping up the company's first foray into space, but the final product was widely seen as falling short of the immense adventure that Howard had described.

Fortunately, the developer didn't just cut their losses and throw the game in a skip, instead choosing to try and address some of the biggest complaints that fans had around the 1.0 version.

It hasn't been quite as epic a turnaround as we saw from Hello Games for their space simulator No Man's Sky, but Starfield is a significantly better game now. The first DLC, Shattered Space, dropped in September 2024, and it was pretty good overall, without being a massive leap forward.

The next DLC is on the way at some point, but we knew almost nothing about it. Over on Twitter/X, Bethesda celebrated the two year anniversary of the game with a video that featured a cryptic message reading "Terran Armada". Whether this is actually the title for the new expansion or not, players on social media are excited to jump back in and see what's on offer.

"A recent interview with one of the Bethesda Devs suggested they're working on making the ship experience better, by this name It hunk this might be a big focus on the DLC. I'm hoping for the ability to build dreadnaughts, maybe a space station," one read on Reddit.

"I played it on my Xbox a bunch, had a f***ing blast with it. I'm on PS5 now, and eagerly anticipating the release on here. Internet hates it, but I thought Starfield was great," another added.

A third was similarly excited, despite negative overall sentiment towards the game from the community, saying "I know this game is everyone’s favourite punching bag, but I’ll go against the grain and say that I’m excited and hopeful for what they’ve been working on. In the recent developer deep dive video, they did say they have been addressing the core issues with the game and will have news to share soon."

With the one year anniversary of the first DLC now on the immediate horizon, we hopefully won't have too long to wait before we find out exactly what's coming next.
