Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.7 update has been teased by developer ConcernedApe, revealing some of the new features being added.
Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone announced a new 1.7 update to Stardew Valley earlier this year, confirming he’s not done with the game yet despite it being nearly a decade since release.
The update doesn’t have a release date yet, even an estimate, but it’s possible we could hear more next year with the game’s 10th anniversary.
Until that day comes, though, Barone has at least teased a few features and improvements coming with the 1.7 update.

As posted on X (formerly Twitter) in response to a fan, Barone said that “there will be some more character/social stuff”, hinting that more events or interactions could be added. And maybe even a brand new character.
Barone also teased that “It's also traditional to add a new farm type,” indicating his intention to add a new farm type to the game.
Stardew Valley 1.7 Update Includes A New Farm Type
There are currently eight farm types available in Stardew Valley, each one accommodating a different playstyle. There are still plenty of other types that could be added though, such as a Shrek-style swamp farm or maybe a farm type set entirely underground. Hopefully ConcernedApe decides to get a little weird with it.
We won’t know anymore for now though, as Barone ends the post by saying “Lots more but I don't want to reveal much yet.” So we’ll just have to wait.
“It’s honestly amazing that the game is still getting updates,” wrote one fan on the Stardew Valley Reddit page. “And not just patches, but brand-new content, for free. I remember trying this game for the first time back in 2016. It’s wonderful to see that it’s still thriving and has such a huge fanbase!”

“This crazy man just keeps giving us free sh**,” writes another fan. “I will buy Haunted chocolatier just out of principle.”
“AAA game space flooded with AI and sh** so brain/soulless it might as well be AI and here's this man, genuinely unable to stop giving us free content straight from his brain and his fingertips,” a third fan wrote.
Haunted Chocolatier is Barone’s next game and remains his primary project for now, so it’s possible Stardew Valley 1.7 will drop after that game releases.
However, we don’t know yet when Haunted Chocolatier will launch, and it could still be years away.
